Certified Lead Renovator

Beginning in April 2010, federal law will require that contractors performing renovation, repair, and painting projects that disturb lead-based paint in homes, child care facilities, and schools built before 1978 must be certified and follow specific work practices to prevent lead contamination.

Yesterday, Jason completed the EPA accredited training to learn how to perform lead-safe work practices, passed the certification test, and is now an EPA Certified Lead Renovator.

Owners Operated

BOVE Designer Finishes is owned and operated by husband and wife, Jason and Thesha Bove. Jason has thirteen years of painting and wall covering experience and a lifetime of construction experience being a third-generation contractor. Thesha has seventeen years of administrative experience and twelve years of construction administration experience including over two years in the Store Design and Construction department at Dollar Tree Stores Inc.

Jason and Thesha were born in Queens and moved to Long Island with their families when they were young. They met in junior high school, but did not see each other again until they were reacquainted in church at twenty-one. They dated on and off for six years and were married in 2003. Jason and Thesha spent the first two years of marriage on Long Island, but after visiting Jason's father in Virginia Beach they decided to relocate there. They believe it is where they are meant to live their lives and build their future.

After high school, Jason studied culinary arts at Johnson and Wales. He also worked in the restaurant industry for eight years starting at fourteen. Due to the long, inflexible hours of the industry, Jason decided to leave his first love and follow in his father's and grandfather's footsteps by pursuing a career in construction. He grew up helping his father with a variety of home renovation projects, so it was very familiar to him. In 2000, after three years working for a local contractor, Jason decided to launch his own business. He had a strong desire to offer his community quality craftsmanship at a fair price. As a result of his education and experience, he possessed the qualities of a great culinary professional (creativity, passion, business sense, attention to detail, team spirit, persistence, multitasking, commitment to quality, decisiveness, and thick skin), which translated well to his new endeavor.

After high school, Thesha accepted her first job as a receptionist at her church. While working as a receptionist, she attended college majoring in a variety of subjects including education and nursing, but none were a good fit. Thesha enjoyed working in an office and went on to work for electrical, door, and sign contractors in various administrative positions. As a result, she developed a love for and understanding of the construction business. Thesha found her niche and decided to study business administration at Briarcliffe College.

In 2002, Thesha began working with Jason in his business part-time while going to school and working for a manufacturer of architectural cast stone. After they were married, Jason and Thesha decided to both work in their business full-time. They realized they made a great team and had the skills necessary to build a successful construction business. In 2005, after relocating to Virginia Beach, Jason worked for local contractors and began building their business with side jobs while Thesha worked for Dollar Tree Stores. In 2008, they decided once again to pursue their construction business full-time. Jason dedicated his time and energy to producing quality craftsmanship while Thesha dedicated hers to consistent, aggressive marketing.

Today, Jason and Thesha enjoy living in Virginia Beach, working on their growing business, and serving at Wave Church.
